scientifically speaking.

So Reagan came to us in mid January, "Hey when are we going to start on my science project?"
Science project?....SWEET! I mean I married a Scientist right?! Finally Todd can use his degree for something!
Reagan said she wanted to do her project on crystals....she's my child...she likes pretty shiny things :)
So we went to our friend Mr. Google and asked - 'What are crystals?'
Mr. Google said - 'Crystals are solids formed by molecules, atoms, & ions, connected together in certain regular patterns'
Reagan naturally asked me, "Mom what are atoms, ions, and molecules?"
To which I answered, "Ummmm.......?...go ask your father the 'Scientist'."

So when Reagan asked Todd about molecules Todd drew it out for her...the paper looked something like this:

Really?...can't ya dumb it down a bit for us Todd?
So I guess poor Reagan was left with me, her Mom, who runs from any scientific word she hears.

It ended up being kinda fun. Reagan and I grew a whole lotta crystals and made some pretty cool discoveries. We had some failures, big failures, but we figured out what our favorite Crystals to grow were, (Borax), and then we did a pretty sweet experiment with them. Reagan did a lot of it by herself under my supervision. Hopefully she learned some. I, myself learned that I can follow the scientific method well...Mr Johnson, my JR high Science teacher would be sooo proud of me! I was extremely happy when the Science Fair day came and we could move the project out of my kitchen, where it seemed to be more then at home!

Check out our Crystal...
...Cool eh?
Todd promises next year he'll be Reagan's Science partner and the 2 of them can come up with a really cool way to power a car using a potato.....or something like that...
